Scrabble Uganda Team Captain

  • Started playing scrabble in 2001 when the competitive game was introduced in Uganda
  • Became elected the President for the Scrabble Association of Uganda (SAU) in 2003 and served as president until 2009
  • Was elected Treasurer in 2013 and served as Treasurer until 2020
  • Was the first Ugandan to play at the World Scrabble Championships in London 2005. Went on to Represent Uganda again in 2007 in Mumbai, 2017 Nairobi and 2023 Las Vegas
  • Supported the development and institutionalization of the first SAU Constitution in 2003
  • Initialized and built a strong relationship with the National Council of Sports
  • Together with Jonathan Tawoda (Scrabbler in Uganda) introduced the SAU Logo
  • Supported the development and maintenance of the SAU Website
  • Introduced the University Scrabble competitions in 2015 that saw many players join the association
  • Supported many individual players in the growth of their game both financially and technically
  • Was key in the start of of several Scrabble clubs within Uganda
  • Am one of the founding members of the ECASA Competitions that started in 2003 in Dar es Salaam
  • As a SAU Trustee, i Supported the official registration of SAU with the National Council of Sports to become a bonafide Association that receives funding from government
