  • Developed and modified 2 Rakia Community Cohort Study databases that enabling smooth running of field activities and proper collection of 40 questionnaires and 100 census forms
  • Performed logistical and personnel needs assessment for both the data and field department
  • Developed two programs for data inconsistency and validation checks
  • Acquired full knowledge of all the Rakaia Health Science Program studies or the services to aid in proper linkage of participants and data management
  • Offered guidance and responses to queries from interviewers and study coordinators on the field linkages and all field related trouble shooting
  • Assisted field coordination offices in scheduling appointments as well as informing when the window period is expiring

  • This led to 80% increased enrollment of girls in schools and teenage pregnancies were reduced to 10% in Rakai
  • Offered support supervision of both safe spaces and health facilities through weekly visits which led to 80% enrollment of girls and teenage mothers for the DREAMS Programme for different services such as vocational skills training, financial skills training etc
  • Supplied scholastic materials and ensured full bursaries to 30-40 enrolled DREAMS girls in over 30 schools within Rakai
  • This has not only led to reduced HIV incidence cases but also improved vocational and financial skills acquired.

  • Conducted pre-counseling to the 30 -40 outpatient clients, leading to 25 of them accepting to test for HIV with their partners
  • Equipped the 30-40 clients with information on HIV/AIDS, its spread, prevention, and control measures available hence 75% of them requested for HIV testing
  • Ensured that of the tested clients that are HIV positive, all were initiated on ART (Antiretroviral Retroviral Therapy after proper counselling.

  • This led to no or reduced emerging new infections
  • Entered data concerning OPD (Outpatient Data) attendance, referrals and diagnosed totals for the previous months; maternal and child health, outreach activities and HIV/AIDS counselling and testing, safe circumcision, and laboratory tests
  • Routine monitoring of these services led to quick tackling of identified gaps and better implementation.

Contributions

  • Team led 30 research officers and assistants in surveying in 5 Rakai communities and the findings showed higher risk of HIV acquisition in fishing communities within Rakai.
  • Worked with the principal investigator on a pilot study which proved that psychosocial stress related factors affect more people living in Urban areas than in Rural Settings.
  • Contributed 50% to the presence of diagnostic kits in Uganda through virtual calls with other international organizations and ACT representatives (Access to Covid-19 Tools).
  • Mentored over 70 students from 13 schools in Lira-Uganda by offering guidance and fostering a sense of excellence. The outcome proved that 80% of the students excelled in their final exams.
  • Inspected different 20 infrastructures in Masaka region such as buildings, food premises and clinics or drug shops and led to improved standards of living among people in Masaka.
