Company Overview: Mengo Hospital is a 300-bed capacity Private Not for Profit Health facility with a staffing of over 800 staff and an average daily patient number of 760 patients. It’s the pioneer Hospital in East Africa with funding from internally generated income and donor support.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall management (planning and coordination) of Mengo Hospital’s administrative Support procedures related to workplaces, working conditions and safety of property and staff in compliance with labor laws, security, safety and Hospital management best practices
  • Pre-occupied with among others: Estates management (projects, infrastructure & maintenance works), Transport (Fleet management) Procurement (contracting for goods/services, supplier selection, order evaluation and disposals) as well as general administration support (Security, health and safety, insurance, engraving etc.) in order to realize value for money and within risk, compliance and statutory perspectives; and supporting the Medical Director in the development & execution of Mengo Hospital strategy
  • Stakeholder Feedback Management: Manages feedback regarding service provision (internal/external) to ensure compliance to Hospital Service Level Agreements (SLA) as well as building sustainable relationships with all service stakeholders to secure critical customer relationships and benefits arising thereof
  • Budget control: Reviews all requisitions to ensure that all purchases/contracting are made within the various cost centers’-set capital and Operational expenditure budgets as a way to minimize financial risk and enhance a culture of cost containment within Mengo Hospital
  • Fixed assets management: Manages the provision of furniture, office equipment to all Hospital offices, and ensuring engraving of company assets throughout the Hospital network.
  • Compliance: Ensures compliance with all Hospital internal policies & Procedures regarding Administration docket as well as Ministry of Health and Education guidelines and regulations on prudential norms failure of which Mengo Hospital can incur losses as a result of penalties arising thereof

Holds a Master’s Degree in Management Studies with specialization in Hospital & Healthcare Management, Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning & Management,  Post Graduate Diploma in Hospital & Healthcare Management all obtained from Uganda Management Institute (UMI). An Upper Second Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences (Economics & Social Administration)of  Makerere University (MUK) and an ordinary Diploma in Social Development.

Over 15 years in Health Care Operations Management, Project Management, and Community Development. Currently working with Mengo Hospital as the Hospital Administrator. Previously worked with Plan international Uganda as a Community Development Coordinator and Program Officer.

  • Served as the lead person in the implementation of the Hospital's 10 year strategic plan 2015-2025 with results of mid term evaluation indicating 70% achievement of set targets.
  • Developed the following Hospital policies which have led to efficiency in Hospital operations: Management & Disposal of Hospital Assets, Transport & Fleet Management policy, Hospital out sourcing policy, staff housing policy, Corruption & Anti-fraud policy, Child & Adult safe guarding policy.
  • Collaborated with the clinical teams in the development of several standard operating procedures (SOPS) across Hospital departments.
  • Part of the team that led to the transformation of the Hospital's ICU from a 2 beds ICU to the current 5 beds ICU with establishment of a 3 bed dialysis unit with support from Rotary International.
