Team Leader Special Project

  • I was selected to lead a Team on a project to audit 33 selected Taxpayers. The project was directly supervised by the Commissioner TID and this project was meant to test a non conventional audit approach methodology where we used data originally collected using a Geographical Information Systems (GIS) analysis with regard to Taxpayer's increase in wealth vs the changes on their balance sheet and also tested their compliance in rental and PAYE for expatriate employees. The team excellently and successfully delivered on the mandate and by the time I was called back to DT, we had completed the audit of 14 cases after dropping 7 cases and assessed Ugx. 6,358,020,435 and recovered 1,400,766,778. Most important we were able to prove the non compliance that exist in this area and a report was submitted and my predecessor was advised to sensitize the rest of the operational stations in employing this tool

  • Worked in different areas of Domestic Taxes Department; First in the office of the AC Compliance, developing and overseeing and monitoring compliance improvement strategies. At this level I was able to develop a number of guidelines for staff to facilitate compliance management eg; guidelines for Tax audits Also as a supervisor in LTO arrears management, I was able to bring excellent customer services and good reporting in the arrears management As a supervisor Tax specialist Unit, We were able to deliver excellently on the management of Informer audits, Compliance management where a number of cases were concluded significant amounts of Taxes collected . We managed very well the compliance reviews of clearing agents every year prior to their renewal of licenses and also the management of Tax waiver application's. I singe handedly developed guidelines for reviewing Waivers which never existed.
