• Sole and Lead analyst responsible for conducting detailed investment analysis, due diligence and developing financial models for Private Equity, IPOs and Listed Equity investments in the largest Pension Fund in East and Central Africa (over US$ 3.8 billion)
• Oversaw a portfolio of over US$ 500 million in assets under management (AUM) consisting of key developmental sectors namely; Financials (Banking, insurance), Impact Funds (Yield Fund), Telecoms, Consumer staples and Pharmaceuticals.
• Recommended investments worth over US$ 200 million dollars to the Management Investment Committee (MIC) which were approved and executed through private transactions, IPOs and stock exchanges.
• Developed and managed relationships with key partners namely; transaction advisors (Bankers, Big Four audit firms), fund managers (impact and stock market), regulators (Ministry of Finance, URBRA, Capital Markets Authority) and auditors (Internal and external auditors).
• Maintained close watch on financial and operational performance of different companies and emerging trends in regulatory, market and tax law changes that affect our portfolio. Consequently making recommendations regarding risks and opportunities to Management Investment Committee through quarterly reports and investment papers.

Key achievements

• Grew the Equities portfolio from US$ 280 million to US$ 500 million in four years.
• Developed a model for portfolio management, currency and dividend tracking in my first year.
• Development of the three year Strategic Asset Allocation for NSSF investments (US$ 3.8 billion)
• Led the migration of equities portfolio management and trading from manual to more automated systems i.e. Bloomberg and a Portfolio Management System.
• Winner of the NSSF COVID-19 challenge which required teams to develop long term financial solutions for Ugandans affected by the pandemic.
• Nomination to the NSSF Staff Provident Fund Board of Trustees (Elections on-going)

• Audit in-charge and associate of large and complex audits that included key clients namely; US funded NGOs i.e. USAID and CDC projects, Provident Funds (National Social Security Fund and Bank of Uganda Retirement Scheme), Insurance Companies (UAP/Old Mutual and APA Insurance) and Consumer Staples (Uganda Breweries/Diageo and Crown Beverages/Pepsi)
• Produced and reviewed audit reports for submission to Funders and Board of Directors and advised them on audit recommendations and internal controls additionally, managed strong client relationships to deliver exceptional service and maintain repeat business.
• Identified control gaps in processes, procedures and systems through in-depth research and assessment and suggested methods for improvement.
• Conducted compliance audits of payments and receipts to determine compliance with USAID and CDC regulatory requirements.
• Managed multiple audit teams of up to 5 people where I was responsible of liaison with company management, tax teams and audit managers. This gave me an opportunity to train and mentor young brilliant associates and interns allocated to me as well.

Key achievements

• Became an investments and insurance champion which progressed to being chosen to be an accredited facilitator for KPMG out of over 100 people in the firm.
• First member in my cohort to lead an audit and complete my ACCA papers enabling me to grow faster than my peers.

• Developed the pitch and business concept that won us the NSSF COVID-19 challenge.
• Led a team of innovators to conduct target market research to scope out industry competition and identify advantageous trends.
• Developed key operational initiatives to drive and maintain substantial business growth of the company.
• Managed stakeholders, including developing sales presentations and promotion initiatives to promote brand awareness in the future.

• Advised pro-bono startups and SMEs on business strategy and transactions worth over US$ 1 million.
• Provided pro-bono Wealth Management services to individual clients and investment clubs worth over US$ 1 million.
• Conducted target market research to understand industry competition and identify advantageous trends.
• Devised and deployed sales and marketing tactics to drive strategic growth and support achievement of revenue goals.
