  • Between October 2019 and October 2020, supervised and actively participated in clerkship, assessment, investigation and treatment of over 350 pediatric oncology patients both in in-patient and out-patient departments.
  • Coordinated establishment and maintenance of virtual multi-disciplinary tumor boards following the COVID pandemic which called for a ban on institutional physical meetings.
  • Supervised and coordinated over 40 multi-disciplinary tumor board meetings to enable standard of care for all solid-tumor patients.
  • Wrote and initiated implementation of febrile neutropenia (FN) guidelines.
  • Conducted formal and informal CME's with department of pediatric oncology about various topics.
  • Wrote a proposal for and initiated the Uganda Cancer Institute hospital based childhood cancer registry which will collect data on clinical characteristics, diagnosis and survival of children and adolescents aged 0-18 years diagnosed with cancer at Uganda Cancer institute.

Accomplishments

  • Established for the first time the Uganda Cancer Institute Childhood cancer registry during a pediatric oncology fellowship training 2019-2021.
  • Successfully coordinated, and still coordinate multi-disciplinary patient care through multi-disciplinary tumor board meetings
  • Successfully led a group of 17 pediatrics residents during the 3 three years of residency, 2016-2019 during which I collaborated with them to provide weekly mini-rounds and journal clubs.
  • Was awarded the best performing student in Masters of Pediatrics and Child Health (MPCH) of Makerere University College of health Sciences, cohort 2016-2019.
  • Was awarded best performing medical officer at the Uganda Cancer Institute in 2015.
  • Was awarded best public speaker of the 2010 Makerere University Public speech contest.

2016: Platelet transfusion therapy in sub-Saharan Africa: bacterial contamination, recipient characteristics, and acute transfusion reactions
