The Allied health professional's council was established by an Act of Parliament in 1996, cap 268. it has the mandate to regulate and control practice, education and training of Allied health professionals through registration, licensing, supervision and monitoring. The functions of the Council are specified under section 4 of the Allied Health Professionals Act and these include:
supervising the registration and licensing of Allied Health Professionals and publication of the registered Professionals in the gazette; Regulating the conduct of Allied health professionals and exercising disciplinary control over them; and
Approving the qualifications awarded by the different institutes concerning the different categories of Allied Health professionals
