• Participate in performance of statutory audits of various clients. Mainly involved in auditing accounts payable and receivable.
• Issuing EFRIS invoices to client and following on the payments to maintain stable cash flows for the firm.
• Perform administrative role from time to time, for example liaise with suppliers and other file monthly statutory tax returns of the firm, dispatch documents and proof reading final audit reports before printing as well as preparing engagement letters.
• Participate in client's corporate assessments, examining policies and procedures for inconsistencies.
• Review general ledger transactions to identify errors or irregular entries.
• Prepared for the ICPAU Quality Review for the year 2022 which was a great success for the firm leading to acquiring a grade 1 rating.
• Perform auditing work in accordance with rigorous auditing standards and principles. for example Startimes DTV Uganda, Spouts of Water Limited, and Childfund International, etc.
• Establish audit and internal control procedures and recommended process improvements to address issues.
• Participated in ICPAU workshops and other educational opportunities to build my skills set and add value to the firm.

• Developed understanding of company audit methodology, approach and tools while working under supervision of the Audit Seniors especially for INGOs and trading companies.
• Proofread audit and tax reports and year-end financial statements to verify accuracy.
• Conducted technical and analytical reviews of tax returns to check for accuracy and qualified deductions. for example VAT, WHT, PAYE & NSSF returns.
• Assisted in office administration and client communication to help manage auditors' workload. for example Digitizing office documents and client reports, printing final audit reports upon approval from my supervisor and filing VAT, PAYE and NSSF monthly tax returns.
• Identified major risk areas and gaps in internal controls, process notes and risk control matrices to plan and perform audit procedures.
• Reviewed clients' accounting systems and procedures for internal control to assess for compliance and signs of fraud.
• Inspected cash on hand, notes receivable and payable and negotiable securities to confirm accurate records.

• Posted receipts and payments in accordance with finance manual of Kamwe that I was part of in implementation.
• Established QuickBooks accounting system to reflect accurate financial records thus improved the timely reporting and decision making.
• Identified accounting errors when cross-referencing documents and database information.
• Verified weekly postings to ledgers to confirm accurate entry and account balances.
• Reconciled and corrected issues with financial records. for example Bank reconciliations, accounts receivable and accounts payable.
• Calculated deductions and processed payroll for employees. for example VAT, PAYE, WHT and NSSF monthly returns

As a Domestic Taxes Intern, I was able to execute the following roles;

• Calling and reminding taxes about their tax obligations and liabilities.
• Researched about different tax types and related tax laws as well as regulations.
• Performed document filing and archiving upon receipt from the tax payers and service providers.
• Educated tax payers about the presumptive tax regulations and also trained them on how to file PAYE and VAT tax returns as well as generating PRNs.
• Engaged in field operation regarding tax payer mobilisation and debt collection.
• Digitized information that was in hard copy form into soft copy. for example; the rental property register that was compiled by the District officers.
• Performed other duties assigned by the supervisor and other staff.
