Summary

I bring over 10 years of significant professional experience in program design, Coordination, implementation and partnership management having worked with Ministries of health, County Health Departments, Academia, UN Agencies and International Non-Governmental Organizations with solid knowledge and experience in systems strengthening and evaluation for integrated SRHR/GBV and adolescent Health in both humanitarian and development programs. My training with a Master degree in Obstetrics & Gynecology, a Master degree in Public Health- Health Systems Management and a certificate in SRH with strong technical and analytical skills and competencies in Maternal Neonatal Health, Adolescent health, MPDSR, Family planning and HIV/GBV integration programming makes me an ideal candidate for any SRHR programming. I recently provided technical support in developing Family planning policy and Guidelines for Sierra Leone as well as the Self-care guidelines. I also provided leadership while with WHO in South Sudan and coordinated health systems strengthening to increase the availability and access to quality maternal and neonatal services in two states. I also supported implementation of Community strategies for prevention of maternal and neonatal deaths, improved Adolescent Health, Prevention of Gender based violence, and Prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV and family planning while coordinating human resources and planning for operations and logistics. I participated in review of the national maternal and neonatal health policies, strategies, guidelines, capacity development and delivery of life saving interventions for reduction of maternal and newborn mortality and morbidity. I was the Health Coordinator for Catholic Organization for Relief and Development Aid (CORDAID) South Sudan, performing the technical coordination of the organization’s health programs in the Country especially the Health Pooled Fund project supported by USAID, FCDO, GAVI, Sweden and Department of Foreign affairs Canada.

Job overview

  • Supported the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MOHS) in Sierra Leone to develop the family planning policy and guidelines. This involved a desk review of the existing policy documents, global standards and guidelines, peer reviewed literature to identify policy gaps and issues that needed to be addressed through a policy framework. It also involved key stakeholder engagement and consultations with the in different government sectors, development partners, civil society organizations, Inter-religious Council, and communities so as to build an acceptable policy framework that was later validated in subsequent national dialogue meetings that I facilitated.
  • Facilitated Policy dialogue/consultative meeting for the development of integrated guidelines for Family Planning services.
  • Drafted the self-care guidelines for SRHR in Sierra Leone.
  • Developed the protocol for and supported implementation of a pilot of self-injection of DMPA-SC contraceptive in the two districts of Western Area Urban and Rural.
  • Developed the concept note for, coordinated and co-chaired the organizing committee meetings for the first-ever national SRHR summit in December 2022 co-funded by WHO and UNFPA. The objectives of the summit to identify the progress, gaps, and key specific actions to improve maternal survival and achieve UHC for SRHR and to create mechanisms that will strengthen strategic multi-sectoral partnerships that respond to the SRHR agenda, including active partnerships with the civil society, youth, and communities in SRHR program planning and budgeting. The summit was organised under the themes of Maternal and new-born health, Family planning, Post abortion care and Adolescent health.
  • Developed concept notes for curriculum review for the training of community health officers (CHOs) and medical officers so as to in cooperate the comprehensive SRHR components.

The overall purpose of the position was to provide technical oversight and focus the delivery of interventions to improve the organization’s health and nutrition program so as to restore and strengthen the health systems within south Sudan with emphasis on maternal, child health and nutrition services.

Key Duties and Achievements:

· I coordinated project implementation in field sites for the HPF III project, monitoring and evaluating services for 27 counties. I also perform coordination functions with other implementing partners, UN agencies and the donors.

· I coordinated the technical implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Health and Nutrition projects of CORDAID and collaborate with the Field Offices on a regular basis to make sure programme targets are achieved. These projects include the HPF project funded jointly by USAID, FCDO, EU, Canada ministry of foreign affairs and Global fund and achieved 98% over all program performance with project key performance indicators.

· I lead the conceptualization of integrated package for Sexual reproductive health, Family planning, and Gender equality and social inclusion aspects of the HPF project development for CORDAID.

· Provided technical oversight of the day-to-day activities of the health programme staff in the field sites, supporting the teams to carry out their professional duties diligently and continuously support in mentoring/coaching of staff to improve performance.

· Also represented CORDAID to external actors at both the national and at the field level when required.

· Worked with relevant national ministries, especially the Ministry of Education, and Health to promote implementation of comprehensive sexuality education.

· Under programme Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting, I prepared and submitted regular analytical project reports to donors in a timely manner

· I ensured that program spending was according to the budget and where there was need for adjustments, justification was provided in writing. Through my oversight CORDAID consistently avoided situations of overspending or underspending.

· I coordinated the Family Planning/ Reproductive Health Commodity security in 16 refugee-hosting districts supported by UNFPA and participating in national RH commodity Technical Working Group.

· Conducted reproductive health commodity supply chain assessment and developed a tool for quantification and inter-facility and inter-district redistribution, which reduced stock-outs and stock accumulation in six districts in Northern Uganda.

· Reviewed and supported production of district specific family planning costed implementation plans for 12 districts in Uganda.

· I worked with the FP Programme Analyst and UNFPA Uganda CO field staff to conduct monthly on-site support supervision in the two project districts (Kiryandongo and Lamwo) for rolling out Sayana Press use and prepared respective reports with recommendations and action points.
